Professional quality BIM exchange

One requirement for professional data exchange in the building industry is that the exchanged data can be trusted. The same applies whether you are exchanging drawings, schedules or BIM. Modeling applications have highly sophisticated editors for creating drawings, giving precise control over the content and layout of the drawings that are derived from a BIM. Nobody tries to offer a single 'Export to Drawings' dialog or button, like they do with 'Export to IFC'. And although IFC export dialogs are slowly getting better, they are nowhere near the sophistication of drawing editors.

simplebim® is a BIM editor that gives you the simple, yet sophisticated tools you need for putting a BIM into shape for professional quality data exchange.
Exchange only relevant data

Unnecessary data causes unnecessary problems. With simplebim you trim the model by throwing out all objects and properties that are not needed or that are not reliable. This makes the model not only lighter (up to 90% smaller), but also more reliable. And you always know exactly what is in the models you exchange, because simplebim gives you a preview of the objects and properties that will be exported.

simplebim® lets you decide which objects and properties are relevant. For many use cases it can even tell you what data is relevant for that use case.
Follow the right BIM grammar

In BIM data exchange you must use grammar that is understood by the receiving application. This is similar to drawings where the different drawing types (floor plan, section, elevation...) each have their own rules that make the drawings understandable. In the case of BIM the grammar is different for each use case, like quantity take-off, clash detection or energy analysis. The minimum requirement is that the right set of properties for each object type is included.

simplebim® has the tools for ensuring that the grammar for each BIM exchange is followed.
Perfect your BIM spelling

The information that is exchanged with others in the form of drawings, schedules or BIM can all be derived from the same original BIM. Together these different uses accumulate a complex set of requirements the original BIM should meet, and often it is not practical or even possible to satisfy all requirements at the same time.

simplebim® makes it possible to relax these requirements. Property values in a exchange BIM can be edited, both automatically and manually. This ensures that the exchange BIM always contains property values that are agreed in the project and thus make sense to others, while the original BIM can have values that are make the most sense to the designer. For example a space name may have to be shortened in the original BIM because it would otherwise not fit in the space label on a floor plan, but the same space should have the full name in the exchange BIMs. Luckily only the relevant data needs to have the correct spelling, which makes the work much easier.
Export better IFC files

Once you are done with editing, you can save the edited model from simplebim® to new IFC file. This way you only exchange data that is relevant and can be trusted by both yourself and anybody using the exported model. The size of the new IFC file is in most cases only fraction of the original file and it imports much faster and cleaner into the receiving application.
